ALEMSHAH AMIN SHOCKINGLY LOITERED OUTSIDE NEWCASTLE PRIMARY SCHOOL IN FENHAM
Alemshah Amin, a 27-year-old man from Lotus Place in Fenham, Newcastle, has been involved in disturbing incidents near Sacred Heart Primary School in Newcastle, which have raised serious concerns about public safety and the protection of children.Over the course of two separate days in June this year, Amin was observed lingering in the bushes outside the school premises, engaging in inappropriate sexual acts while children were playing in the schoolyard.
On both occasions, Amin remained in the vicinity for several hours, hiding among the bushes and engaging in acts of masturbation while peering into the playground where young students were present.
His presence was only interrupted when staff members at the school discovered his inappropriate behavior and caught him in the act.
The incidents caused alarm among staff and parents, prompting immediate police intervention.
During his arrest following the second incident, Amin was taken into custody and subsequently interviewed by law enforcement officials.
In his police interview, he claimed that he had been outside the school because he needed to use the toilet, despite the fact that his home was less than a minute’s walk away from the school grounds.
Prosecutor Anne Richardson outlined the details to Newcastle Crown Court, stating: "One or two occasions, he loitered in the vicinity of the school for several hours, hiding in bushes around the site and masturbating while looking into the school yard when children were playing.
On both occasions, he remained there until caught in the act by staff." Amin’s explanation for his behavior was further scrutinized during the court proceedings.
He admitted that, despite his home address being very close, he had claimed to be caught short and needing to relieve himself.
He explained that he had shaken his penis to clean it, which caused soreness, and that he had attempted to relieve the soreness by shaking it more with his hand.
The court heard that Amin pleaded guilty to two charges of outraging public decency.
Given the time he had already spent in custody on remand, the judge, Recorder Richard Wright KC, sentenced him to an 18-month community order with a requirement for rehabilitation.
Additionally, Amin will be registered as a sex offender for five years and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the same period.
This order explicitly prohibits him from waiting outside any school or educational facility where children under 18 are present.
In delivering his judgment, Recorder Wright emphasized the seriousness of Amin’s actions, stating: "You have pleaded guilty to serious offences of outraging public decency.
These are offences that involved you masturbating in public outside the Sacred Heart Primary School in this city.
They were plainly sexual offences, and you chose to commit them in the vicinity of that school quite deliberately, of that I am sure." The judge acknowledged that alcohol may have played a role in fueling the offending but expressed concern over the sexual nature of the behavior, highlighting the need to protect the public from potential future incidents.
While the offences were severe enough to warrant a prison sentence, the court took into account that Amin had already been remanded in custody for several months, with his time served approaching the length of any custodial sentence that might have been imposed.
Defense lawyer Tony Cornberg, citing Amin’s learning disability and social isolation, acknowledged his client’s guilt despite initial denials in a pre-sentence report.
Cornberg added that Amin struggles with limited social skills and is socially isolated, which may have contributed to his behavior.
The case underscores the importance of safeguarding children and maintaining public order, especially in areas surrounding schools.
Authorities will continue to monitor Amin’s compliance with the court’s orders to prevent any recurrence of such disturbing conduct.
