AKIF ALI, THE BRADFORD SEX OFFENDER, SENTENCED FOR MULTIPLE CRIMES AT DONCASTER PRISON AND GROOMING IN BRADFORD
In a series of disturbing incidents spanning several years, Akif Ali, a known sex offender from Bradford, has faced multiple convictions and extended sentences for his heinous actions. The latest developments reveal a pattern of predatory behavior that has shocked the local community and prompted a stern response from the judicial system.
Back in June 2018, Ali's criminal activities took a particularly disturbing turn while he was incarcerated at a Doncaster prison.
Already a registered sex offender, Ali was serving a six-year sentence handed down in 2014 for a range of sexual offenses, including engaging in sexual activity with a minor under the age of 16.
Despite his prior convictions, Ali continued to offend while behind bars, sexually assaulting three different individuals during his detention.
The victims, whose identities are protected for legal reasons, suffered separate assaults between January and June of the previous year.
Prosecutor Katie Rafter detailed to the court that Ali committed two sexual assaults against each victim in separate incidents, highlighting the repeated nature of his offending.
One of the victims, in a heartfelt impact statement read aloud in court, expressed how profoundly Ali's actions affected them.
They revealed that they continued to think about the assault weeks after it occurred, illustrating the lasting trauma inflicted by Ali's predatory behavior.
Ali, who is currently held at HMP Hull, pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual assault during an earlier hearing.
The court was also informed that Ali has a lengthy criminal history, including 13 previous offenses, with three additional counts of sexual assault committed in 2010.
Despite his ongoing treatment for sex offenders and suffering from depression, Judge Peter Kelson QC was unequivocal in his condemnation, sentencing Ali to an additional two years in prison.
The judge remarked, “You are clearly completely and utterly sexually warped,” emphasizing the severity of Ali's continued offending.
Earlier, in September 2014, Ali's predatory tendencies were evident in Bradford, where he was convicted of grooming a schoolgirl online and subsequently sexually assaulting her.
The 24-year-old, already registered as a sex offender, targeted a 15-year-old girl over several months before arranging to meet her and carry out the assault at a location in Bradford.
His criminal record also includes an incident where he exposed himself to a 16-year-old Asian girl in Horton Park, further demonstrating his pattern of sexual misconduct.
Following his sentencing in Bradford, Detective Inspector Vanessa Smith of the Bradford District Safeguarding Unit expressed her appreciation to the victims and their families for their bravery in coming forward.
She stated, “We are pleased with the sentence he has received and hope it will bring them some comfort.” She also reaffirmed the police’s commitment to thoroughly investigating all reports of sexual abuse, including online grooming, and encouraged other victims to come forward.
Ali was sentenced to four years of extended license and was subjected to a comprehensive Sex Offender Prevention Order, reflecting the seriousness of his offenses and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
