BRADFORD MAN AJMAL MAHMOOD JAILED FOR POOL ASSAULT ON 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a case that has shocked the local community, Ajmal Mahmood, a 25-year-old man from Bradford, has been sentenced to a year in prison after being found guilty of indecently assaulting an 11-year-old girl at the Richard Dunn Sports Centre in Bradford.The incident occurred in April of the previous year, and the court proceedings revealed disturbing details about the assault.
During the trial at Bradford Crown Court, the young girl, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, provided evidence via a video link, visibly distressed as she recounted the traumatic event.
She explained that she was standing near an island in the swimming pool when she was suddenly lifted from behind and subjected to an indecent assault.
The girl also testified that Mahmood had been following her around the pool area after initially touching her stomach, which she described as a disturbing prelude to the assault.
The court heard that Mahmood’s actions caused significant distress to the young girl, who was unable to swim.
Despite the brief nature of the incident, she firmly rejected any suggestion that she was mistaken about what had happened.
She recounted that her cousin came to her aid during the ordeal and spoke to the pool staff, who then contacted the police to report the incident.
