AIDAN TREGLOWN FROM CORNWALL SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN BERKSHIRE
Aidan Treglown, a businessman originally from Cornwall, has been sentenced to prison for serious historic child sex offences committed in Berkshire.The case was heard at Reading Crown Court, where Treglown appeared on Tuesday, July 9, to receive his sentence after a lengthy legal process.
Following an eight-day trial that concluded on April 24, the jury reached a unanimous verdict finding Treglown guilty of one count of sexual assault of a child under the age of 13.
Additionally, the jury, by a majority decision, convicted him of one count each of sexual assault of a child under 13 and rape of a child.
These convictions stem from offences that took place in Finchampstead, Berkshire, between 2004 and 2008.
Prior to the trial, Treglown had entered a guilty plea to two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
However, he was acquitted of other charges, including two counts of sexual assault by penetration of a child under 13, sexual assault by touching of a child under 13, and one count of rape of a child.
In sentencing, Treglown received a term of five years imprisonment.
The court also ordered that he be placed on the sex offenders register for life, impose restraining orders against him to prevent contact with his victim and two other individuals, and granted a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect for ten years.
The offences in question occurred over a span of four years, from 2004 to 2008, in the Finchampstead area.
Treglown was formally charged on April 1 of the previous year via postal requisition.
As a businessman, Treglown is known to run the House Management Group, a property maintenance and cleaning service based in Padstow, Cornwall.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he became the director of this company shortly after turning 16.
He is also listed as the director of House Management Services Ltd on Companies House.
Detective Constable Adele Shaw, from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit, commented on the case, stating, “Aidan Treglown has now been held to account for the abhorrent offences against a child.
The victim in this case has shown immense courage in telling someone what happened to them.”
