ADRIAN WADLEY BRADFORD MAN EXPOSES HIMSELF TO CHILD AFTER ABDUCTION IN BRADFORD
In March 2013, a disturbing case unfolded involving Adrian Wadley, a 47-year-old man from Bradford, who was convicted of heinous crimes against an eight-year-old girl. The incident took place in Bradford, specifically in the Frizinghall area, and the court proceedings revealed a series of alarming behaviors that culminated in Wadley's sentencing.
According to court reports, Wadley abducted the young girl from a street in Bradford.
After luring her with sweets, he took her on a bicycle ride, during which he bought her a hat and gloves.
The girl was playing outside with her bicycle when Wadley approached her, and witnesses saw her being pushed along on his bike.
The girl later recounted that Wadley told her to wash his hair while he was naked in the bath, which was part of the grooming process he employed to gain her trust.
During the incident, Wadley told the girl, “Look, little girl, look at this,” after giving her sweets and engaging her in a cycle ride that included stops in a park and on a rocking horse.
The court heard that Wadley was naked in the shower and bath at his residence when he instructed the girl to shampoo his hair, during which he exposed himself.
This act of indecency was a key factor in his conviction.
Wadley's actions did not occur in isolation.
Court records revealed that in April 2011, he was issued a police penalty notice for disorderly conduct after being caught peeping at women in a disabled toilet cubicle.
Additionally, two months later, he was found hiding behind a bush in Somerset, watching children in a play area with his trousers undone.
These previous incidents demonstrated a pattern of inappropriate and voyeuristic behavior.
When police arrived at Wadley's flat after the girl’s worried mother reported her missing, Wadley claimed he was acting as a Good Samaritan and was supervising her.
However, the police found the girl at his residence, and Wadley’s explanations did not align with the evidence.
The child confirmed that Wadley had bought her sweets, a hat, and gloves, and that they had been on a cycle ride in the park and on a rocking horse.
During the court hearing, prosecutor Andrew Kershaw detailed Wadley's grooming tactics, which involved systematically building the girl’s trust to make her comfortable with his nudity and inappropriate behavior.
Wadley pleaded guilty to charges of child abduction, exposure, and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Judge Colin Burn, addressing Wadley's case, noted that Wadley had been in custody since August and had served what equated to a 15-month jail sentence.
The judge sentenced Wadley to a three-year community order, which includes supervision and a high-level activity requirement.
Wadley is also required to sign the sex offenders’ register for five years, and he is prohibited from having unsupervised contact with children, inviting children into his home, or working with them in any capacity.
This case highlights the serious nature of Wadley's offenses and the ongoing risks posed by individuals with such criminal histories in Bradford.
