ADRIAN HURDLE JAILED IN GLOUCESTER FOR SEX WITH 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a case that has shocked the community of Gloucester, Adrian Hurdle, aged 23, was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a girl who was only 14 years old at the time. The incident and subsequent legal proceedings have brought to light disturbing details about the relationship that developed between Hurdle and the young girl.

Hurdle, residing on Parkend Road in Gloucester, first met the girl when she was just 13 years old. Over the course of the following year, their relationship deepened, and they eventually became a couple. Initially, they lived together in a tent, which suggests a transient and possibly unstable living situation. Their relationship then progressed to sharing a flat with a friend before moving into Hurdle’s own residence. This pattern of cohabitation indicates a gradual escalation in their relationship, despite the significant age difference.

In the year prior to the court proceedings, the girl moved back to her parents’ home. During this period, she discovered she was pregnant in June, a revelation that added a new and serious dimension to the case. She subsequently gave birth to a baby boy in February of the following year. DNA testing confirmed that Hurdle was the biological father of the child, cementing the legal and moral implications of their relationship.

During an earlier hearing, Hurdle admitted to having engaged in sexual activity with the girl, who was only 14 at the time. His defense lawyer, Steve Young, argued that the relationship was consensual and that the girl’s family had actually encouraged their union, despite the clear legal age restrictions. Mr. Young emphasized that Hurdle deeply regretted his actions and highlighted that he was now in a new relationship, with his current partner also pregnant. Hurdle and his partner had secured stable accommodation and were employed as a barman, indicating a move towards stability and maturity.

Despite these circumstances, Judge William Hart sentenced Hurdle to 21 months in prison, explicitly stating that Hurdle had been aware of the girl’s age from the outset. The judge remarked, “You became involved in a relationship with a 14-year-old knowing her to be 14, and knowing that to be illegal.” The court also noted that the girl’s family’s encouragement of the relationship lent a false sense of respectability to the situation. Recognizing the circumstances, Judge Hart decided to reduce the sentence, which was to run concurrently on each of the two charges. Hurdle is expected to serve half of his sentence before being released on license. Additionally, the court ordered Hurdle to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, underscoring the severity of his crime and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
