Adrian Boon

Cheltenham Sexual Abuser

November 2017 Locked up: The sex offender who stole two girls’ innocence then worked in schools A 38-year-old Cheltenham man who sexually molested two young girls more than a decade ago has been jailed for seven years at Gloucester Crown Court. Dad-of-two Adrian Boon, of Chepstow House, Princess Elizabeth Way, had denied the allegations but was convicted by a jury last week of four charges of sexual assault on the girls between October 2004 and November 2007. Brendan Moorhouse, prosecuting, said Boon abused the girls when he used to play computer games with them. “He said she was not to tell anyone of her ‘special hugs’,” said Mr Moorhouse. “Matters came to light in 2015, and he was arrested, but said that he had done nothing at all wrong. He said that the girls’ families must have got their heads together to make this up,” Mr Moorhouse said. After his conviction last week Boon was remanded in custody and returned to court yesterday for sentence. Passing sentence, Judge Jamie Tabor QC told Boon: “The consequences of your behaviour have been devastating to your two young victims, devastating for your mum and dad, devastating for your wife, your children and your larger family. “There is frankly very little to be said for you. The principal mitigation would have been for you to make a clean breast of it, say you were sorry and apologise to the girls. You decided to deny it and have a trial.” He said that because of the nature of the offences against one of the girls Boon was classified as a sexual offender of particular concern. That meant that there would be no automatic parole after half the seven year sentence. Boon would only be released when the Parole Board felt he no longer posed a danger to children – and that could mean him serving the entire seven years. The judge also added one year additional parole licence to Boon’s sentence and ordered him to sign the sex offender register for the rest of his life.
