ADILSON CARDOSA FROM CROYDON AND DEPTFORD SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON BUSES IN SOUTH-EAST LONDON
In a recent court ruling, Adilson Cardosa, a Brazilian national with no fixed address, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for a series of disturbing sexual offenses committed on public buses across south-east London, specifically in the areas of Croydon, Bromley, and Deptford.
The incidents, which took place between August 28 and October 26 of the previous year, involved the molestation of women and young girls, some as young as 12 years old.
Cardosa’s criminal behavior was characterized by his predatory approach, as he would follow his victims onto buses and sit beside them.
During these encounters, he would conceal his actions by draping his coat over his lap while engaging in inappropriate physical contact, such as rubbing their legs and groin areas.
In some cases, he appeared to be performing a sex act on himself, further demonstrating his malicious intent.
Among the victims was a 12-year-old girl on a bus in Croydon, which marked one of the most alarming incidents.
Additionally, a 13-year-old girl was targeted on a bus in Wickham Road, Bromley, and a 17-year-old girl was assaulted on a bus traveling through Beckenham High Street.
Beyond these assaults on minors, Cardosa also admitted to attacking two women aged 23 and 46 on buses in Deptford and Croydon, respectively.
Authorities were able to identify and apprehend Cardosa through the analysis of CCTV footage and his Oyster card, which linked him to the crimes.
His arrest was carried out in the early hours of October 13 in Bournemouth, after a police investigation that spanned several weeks.
In court, Cardosa pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual touching involving young girls.
As part of his sentencing, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
Furthermore, following the completion of his jail term, he is set to be deported from the United Kingdom, ending his criminal activities in the country.
