BRADFORD SPORTS INSTRUCTOR ADAM WISNIEWSKI NEARLY SENT TO JAIL FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TEENAGE GIRL
In October 2019, a serious incident unfolded involving Adam Wisniewski, a sports instructor based in Bradford, who was found guilty of sexually assaulting a teenage girl during a training session. The court proceedings revealed that Wisniewski, aged 36 at the time, had indecently touched the girl on four separate occasions within the same evening, an act that left her visibly distressed and tearful.
The prosecutor, Ian Howard, detailed the gravity of the case, emphasizing the repeated nature of the assault and its emotional impact on the young victim.
Wisniewski, who was formerly residing on Thornton Road in Thornton, Bradford, but had since moved out of the area, faced a trial where he was convicted of a single count describing multiple incidents of sexual assault.
The court heard that the offenses occurred during a single training session, but the repeated touches indicated a pattern of inappropriate behavior.
Following the conviction, Wisniewski was remanded into custody by Recorder Taryn Turner, pending sentencing scheduled for the following day.
During the sentencing hearing, Wisniewski’s legal representative, barrister Rebecca Young, highlighted her client’s previously good character and expressed remorse for his actions.
She pointed out that Wisniewski had lost his job as a quality controller and was currently living a transient lifestyle, sofa surfing at the time of the trial.
Young emphasized that her client had already faced significant consequences for his actions, stating, “He has already been punished a great deal.” Recorder Turner ultimately sentenced Wisniewski to nine months in prison, but the sentence was suspended for 18 months.
Additionally, Wisniewski was ordered to complete 240 hours of unpaid community work, participate in a rehabilitation activity program, and was required to sign the sex offender register for a period of ten years.
A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was also imposed for ten years to restrict his activities and monitor his behavior.
In her remarks, Recorder Turner underscored the narrow margin by which Wisniewski avoided immediate imprisonment, stating, “You’ve got within a whisker of a nine-month prison sentence today.” The court’s decision reflects the seriousness of the offense and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals from sexual misconduct.
