ADAM MORRISON OF ARBROATH FACES SERIOUS CHARGES IN FORFAR AND ANGUS LIBRARIES

In a disturbing series of incidents that have shocked the local community, Adam Morrison, a 21-year-old man from Arbroath, has been involved in multiple allegations of indecent behavior and inappropriate online communications in the town of Forfar, Angus. The incidents span over several years and involve both public indecency and the targeting of young girls through digital messaging platforms.

In May 2019, Morrison was sentenced at Forfar Sheriff Court after admitting to performing acts of indecency on himself three times within a four-day period while using a public computer at Forfar Library, located on West High Street. The court heard that Morrison, who was a regular visitor to the library and known to staff, chose to sit in the reading room at a computer positioned furthest from the entrance and closest to the back wall. His actions during these visits were captured on CCTV footage, which confirmed his misconduct.

Furthermore, Morrison was found guilty of sending sexually explicit messages to two young girls, aged 13 and 11, via Facebook between July and August 2015. The court was informed that Morrison had initially contacted the 13-year-old girl through Facebook, where he claimed to be 17 and requested her to send him an indecent photograph. The girl, suspecting the account was fake, blocked Morrison’s profile to prevent further contact. Police later accessed Morrison’s computer and discovered messages in which he explicitly asked the girl for nude images.

The 11-year-old girl also had a Facebook account and, after engaging in a conversation with Morrison, showed her mother the explicit content she received. Morrison’s actions prompted police investigation, leading to his arrest and subsequent charges. The court was told that Morrison suffers from autism, and his solicitor, Sarah Russo, highlighted that reports indicated he exhibited some insight and reflection regarding his actions. She emphasized that Morrison did not intend to cause harm or distress, and that he was willing to work with authorities to address underlying issues.

During the sentencing, Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown acknowledged the seriousness of Morrison’s offenses, noting that custody was a possible outcome. However, after reviewing detailed background reports, the sheriff opted for a community-based disposal. Morrison was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for the duration of his Community Payback Order. The court also imposed an 18-month ban from Forfar Library, along with restrictions on internet use and unsupervised contact with anyone under 16. The order includes a mental health treatment requirement, reflecting the court’s recognition of the need for psychological support.

In a related case from November 2018, Morrison faced further allegations of acting indecently while viewing pornography on a computer at Angus libraries. He was accused of doing so on five separate occasions within a week at the same library in Forfar. Additionally, Morrison faced charges of sending offensive and sexual messages to young girls dating back to 2015. These included attempts to meet the girls and requests for explicit photographs, with incidents involving girls aged 11 and 13, spanning from 2015 to 2016.

During a court appearance at Forfar Sheriff Court, Sheriff Jamie McDonald was informed of a new summary complaint against Morrison. The defense, represented by solicitor Nick Markowski, explained that Morrison suffers from difficulties and requested a three-week adjournment without plea, with hopes of resolving the matter through discussions with the Crown. Morrison remains on bail, with a specific condition prohibiting him from entering Forfar Library, underscoring the ongoing legal restrictions placed upon him.

These cases highlight a pattern of concerning behavior involving Adam Morrison in the Angus region, raising serious questions about his conduct and the measures necessary to protect the community, especially vulnerable minors.
