GRANT ROBB ARBROATH PERVERT JAILED OVER CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN DUNDEE

In July 2019, a significant case was heard at Dundee Sheriff Court involving Grant Robb, a resident of Newton Avenue in Arbroath, who faced serious charges related to the possession of a vast collection of indecent images of children.

The court was informed that Robb had either taken or allowed the taking of these images over a period spanning from September 2012 to May of the previous year, highlighting a prolonged period of offending.

During the proceedings, Robb, aged 52, admitted to possessing thousands of such images, which depicted the abuse of minors.

The gravity of the case was underscored by the fact that each image represented a real child being subjected to abuse, a fact emphasized by Sheriff Alastair Brown.

The defence, represented by solicitor Nick Whelan, acknowledged that Robb’s actions warranted a custodial sentence but argued that a community-based order might be more appropriate, considering his circumstances.

However, Sheriff Brown was unequivocal in his judgment.

He stated that only a custodial sentence was suitable given the nature of the offences.

Consequently, Robb was sentenced to 11 months in prison.

Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of 10 years, reflecting the serious concern the court had regarding the potential risk posed by Robb’s actions.

The sheriff’s comments underscored the heinous nature of the crimes, emphasizing that each image was a record of a child being abused, which justified the strict sentence handed down.
