Adam Frost

Morley Sexual Abuser

September 2010 Table tennis coach, 23, sent to jail for sexual activity with girl A TABLE tennis coach has been jailed for a year after an underage girl ended up naked in the back of his car. Derby Crown Court heard that Adam Frost, of Church Lane, Morley, was 22 when he met the girl. Sentencing him, Judge Jonathan Gosling said: “This has had a devastating effect on her and her family.” Sarah Allen, prosecuting, said Frost, who is now 23, suggested the girl should use an alias when putting his name into her phone “to help avoid detection of their relationship”. Their physical contact involved kissing and taking off their clothes in his car where they touched sexually. They did not have sex. She said: “Parents of the complainant became concerned that the defendant was lavishing all his attention on her.” She added: “The parents feel the defendant took advantage of the complainant’s lack of maturity.” Miss Allen told the court that the teenage girl, whose age cannot be revealed for legal reasons, said the pair got on well and enjoyed being together but she said the relationship became suffocated and he exhibited controlling behaviour. Miss Allen said: “She classed him as being obsessed with her.” The court heard Frost became infatuated with the girl, making nearly 3,000 phone calls and texts to her. And the girl felt it had damaged her family life, saying: “My dad looks at me differently, as if I am not his little girl any more, and that upsets me.” Frost, who was put on the sex offenders’ register for a decade, admitted two offences of sexual activity with a child in February. He had no previous convictions. Martin Hirst, in mitigation, said: “There was a consensual, willing relationship between the two of them. “He is a naive young man and that has been clearly brought home to him. That naivety has been very much swept to one side. “There is a world of difference, despite what you see in the media, between a predatory paedophile and a naive young man who has fallen for someone he should not have done.” Judy Rogers, children protection officer at the English Table Tennis Association (ETTA) said Frost had a coaching qualification but was not a registered coach. She said: “As soon as we became aware of the situation, we followed our normal procedures which worked really well and he was stripped of his membership of the ETTA straight away. “What is really good to see is that our processes worked and immediately, as soon as we knew anything, even before he was sentenced, his membership was permanently suspended.”
