ADAM FROST FROM MORLEY SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ACTIVITY WITH UNDERAGE GIRL IN DERBY

In September 2010, a serious criminal case unfolded involving Adam Frost, a table tennis coach from Morley, who was sentenced to a year in prison following allegations of engaging in sexual activities with a minor. The incident came to light after an underage girl was found naked in the back of Frost's vehicle, prompting a police investigation that revealed disturbing details about their relationship.

Derby Crown Court heard that Adam Frost, who resided on Church Lane in Morley, was 22 years old at the time he met the young girl. The court was informed that their interactions involved inappropriate physical contact, including kissing and removing their clothes while in his car, although they did not engage in sexual intercourse. The prosecutor, Sarah Allen, detailed that Frost had suggested the girl use an alias when saving his name in her phone, ostensibly to conceal their relationship from others. This behavior indicated an attempt to hide their connection from family and authorities.

According to the prosecution, the girl’s parents grew increasingly concerned as they noticed Frost paying excessive attention to their daughter. They believed that Frost was exploiting her lack of maturity, which raised alarm bells about the nature of their relationship. The court was told that the girl, whose age could not be disclosed due to legal restrictions, initially enjoyed their companionship but later described feeling suffocated by Frost’s controlling behavior. She characterized him as being obsessed with her, which contributed to her discomfort and distress.

Further evidence presented in court revealed that Frost became infatuated with the girl, making nearly 3,000 phone calls and sending countless text messages, demonstrating the extent of his obsession. The girl expressed that this relationship had a negative impact on her family life, stating, “My dad looks at me differently, as if I am not his little girl any more, and that upsets me.” Her words underscored the emotional toll the situation had taken on her and her family.

Frost was subsequently charged and admitted to two counts of sexual activity with a child in February of that year. Despite the serious nature of the charges, he had no prior criminal convictions. As part of his sentencing, Judge Jonathan Gosling ordered Frost to register as a sex offender for ten years, reflecting the gravity of his actions.

During the court proceedings, Martin Hirst, representing Frost, argued that there was a consensual and willing relationship between the two, emphasizing Frost’s naivety rather than predatory intent. Hirst stated, “There is a world of difference, despite what you see in the media, between a predatory paedophile and a naive young man who has fallen for someone he should not have done.” He highlighted Frost’s youth and inexperience, suggesting that his actions stemmed from naivety rather than malicious intent.

In response to the incident, Judy Rogers, a children’s protection officer at the English Table Tennis Association (ETTA), confirmed that Frost held a coaching qualification but was not officially registered as a coach. She explained that once the organization became aware of the allegations, they promptly followed their established procedures. Frost was immediately stripped of his membership with the ETTA, and even before his sentencing, his membership was permanently suspended. Rogers emphasized that the organization’s protocols effectively responded to the situation, ensuring that Frost was removed from any official coaching capacity to protect young players from potential harm.
