ADAM BAXTER AND PAULA BRANNAN SENTENCED IN BLACKPOOL FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AND DRUG OFFENSES
In a disturbing case that unfolded in Blackpool, a teenage girl was at the center of a series of criminal acts involving drug use and sexual misconduct.The incident began when the 15-year-old girl, who had taken seven lines of the recreational drug known as “bubble,” was later filmed on a mobile phone while she was naked and engaged in a kissing scene with a woman.
The events took place at a couple’s residence on Palatine Road, Blackpool, where she had been invited to spend time.
The girl, whose memory of the events was hazy, recalled little about what transpired during her visit.
She had been invited to the address by the male occupant, who later recorded her in compromising situations.
The man responsible for capturing these images and videos, Adam Baxter, aged 30, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including taking indecent photographs of a child, possessing controlled substances such as amphetamine and mephedrone with intent to supply, and possession of cannabis.
The court proceedings took place at Preston Crown Court, where Judge handed down a sentence of 16 months in prison for Baxter.
However, this sentence was suspended for two years, meaning Baxter would not serve time immediately but would be under supervision for that period.
Additionally, he was subjected to a two-year supervision order and a four-month curfew to ensure compliance with court conditions.
Baxter’s partner at the time, Paula Brannan, aged 25, was also involved in criminal activities related to the case.
She was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years, after admitting to engaging in sexual activity with a minor, as well as being involved in money laundering and possessing drugs.
Both Baxter and Brannan are now registered on the sex offenders register for a period of seven years.
The case was brought to light in June 2011, when Paul Cummings, the prosecutor, explained that the couple had prior contact with the girl before the offences occurred.
The girl was later contacted via phone and invited to the couple’s home, where she expressed her intention to “chill” upon arrival during the early hours of the morning.
During her visit, the girl admitted to having taken mephedrone.
She described being in a bedroom watching a film, and at some point, she drank water that tasted strange.
Her memory of the incident was incomplete, but she remembered feeling sick afterward.
The police investigation revealed that the girl was vulnerable and under the influence of drugs at the time.
Defending Baxter, lawyer Paul Humphries, explained that his client had been suffering from paranoia related to his girlfriend’s interactions with others.
Baxter had attempted to record her activities to understand what she was doing at the time.
It was also noted that Baxter had made efforts to reduce his alcohol consumption and had been working to turn his life around concerning substance misuse.
