ABDULLAH MHANA, BRADFORD SEX OFFENDER, SENTENCED TO OVER 10 YEARS IN PRISON
A profoundly manipulative and calculating sex offender, Abdullah Khalid Mhana, 26, who deceived a social media platform by pretending to be a teenage boy to groom and sexually abuse an 11-year-old girl, has been sentenced to over a decade behind bars.Mhana, residing at Hirst Lodge Court in Bradford, pleaded guilty to 17 criminal offenses, including rape, sexual assault, and the creation of indecent images of a child.
During a hearing at Bradford Crown Court on Monday, Recorder Andrew Dallas sentenced him to 10 and a half years in prison.
The court heard that Mhana began grooming the young girl in 2020.
A year later, he arranged to meet her at a park in Bradford, where he persuaded her to perform a sexual act.
Some of these acts were recorded on his mobile phone, which was later recovered and examined by police in 2022 during their investigation into his involvement with another underage girl.
Despite being issued a formal warning to avoid contact with the second child, Mhana continued his sexual relationship with the first girl even after she turned 13.
Recorder Dallas described Mhana’s conduct as "cold and calculated," stating, "In my judgment, this was a calculated behavior in which you deliberately sought out the sexual favors of someone you knew to be 11 years of age." He added that when the girl attempted to cut off contact, Mhana manipulated her into maintaining communication.
The court also revealed that Mhana persuaded the girl to go for a drive in his car, which ended with him having sex with her inside the vehicle.
The judge emphasized that despite receiving a police warning in summer 2022, Mhana’s behavior did not change; he remained undeterred and continued his abuse.
Recorder Dallas expressed his doubt about Mhana’s remorse or empathy towards his victims, indicating a lack of genuine regret.
As part of his sentence, Mhana will serve at least two-thirds of his imprisonment before being eligible for release.
Additionally, he will face an extended licence period of two and a half years and must register as a sex offender with police for the rest of his life.
