AARON NURSAW JAILED IN JERSEY FOR CHILD INDECENT IMAGES OFFENSES
In October 2019, a man from Jersey was sentenced to three years in prison after a disturbing discovery made by his girlfriend led to his arrest and subsequent conviction. The incident unfolded when the woman, while searching her partner’s phone, uncovered indecent images of children stored on his device.
Shocked and distressed by what she found, she immediately reported the matter to the police, prompting a thorough investigation into Aaron Nursaw’s activities.
During the Royal Court hearing, Bailiff Tim Le Cocq emphasized the gravity with which the court views such cases.
He stated, ‘These cases have real victims.
Real children have to undergo the abuse that feeds this appetite.
The court always views indecent images in this way with great seriousness.’ The court’s stance underscores the severity with which authorities treat offenses involving child exploitation and indecent material.
Prosecutor Crown Advocate Conrad Yates detailed the circumstances leading to Nursaw’s arrest.
In January, Nursaw was found to be asleep when his girlfriend discovered the images on his phone.
She described some of the images as being of naked children, which she found deeply upsetting and disturbing.
Following her discovery, she contacted the police, leading to Nursaw’s arrest.
During questioning, Nursaw claimed that the images had been downloaded automatically, asserting that he had been sent links by a third party in the United States and that his phone had been hacked.
He also admitted to visiting a website called ‘Free Chat Now’ to communicate with girls but denied any contact with underage individuals or any interest in children.
Further investigations revealed additional evidence.
Nursaw’s now ex-girlfriend also found cannabis on his person, totaling 1.89 grams, which she reported to the authorities.
An examination of his iPhone uncovered 68 indecent images, while a Samsung phone linked to him contained an additional 253 images, including 173 still images and 80 videos.
Among these, 13 images were classified in the most serious categories, categories four and five, indicating their highly disturbing nature.
Investigators also discovered that Nursaw had been actively exchanging and seeking indecent images via the messaging platform Kik.
Despite his claims that the images were automatically downloaded and that he had no interest in children, the evidence suggested otherwise.
In interviews, he insisted, ‘I don’t even like kids.
I’m not into really young ones at all.
I’m not that type of person,’ but the court found the evidence compelling enough to impose a three-year prison sentence.
The prosecution argued for this length of imprisonment, emphasizing the seriousness of his offenses and the harm caused to potential victims.
