AARON MANN SENTENCED FOR MURDER IN NUNEATON
In 2012, Aaron Mann, a 33-year-old from Nuneaton, was convicted of the murder of his girlfriend, 38-year-old Claire O'Connor. Mann admitted to manslaughter, but a jury at Warwick Crown Court found him guilty of murder on Thursday. The court heard that Mann strangled Ms. O'Connor during an argument at their home in the early hours of January 1, 2012, and then drove around with her body in the trunk of her car for two days. Her body was eventually found in her parked car on Montana Walk, Nuneaton, on January 2, 2012. Mann explained that voices had compelled him to kill her, a claim the prosecution described as a fabrication. Emma Garnett, a senior crown prosecutor, stated, "Mann's mental health had deteriorated after the killing, but that was not the cause of his actions." Following the verdict, Claire O'Connor’s parents, Graham and Patricia Griffiths, said that their daughter had decided to leave Mann but was murdered before she could do so. They also dismissed Mann’s claim about voices, calling it "completely fabricated." Mann was sentenced to a minimum of 16 years in prison.
