AARON DAWE SENTENCED IN BEDFORD POLICE STING INVOLVING UNDERAGE GIRLS IN LUTON COURT
In September 2022, a disturbing case unfolded in Bedford involving Aaron Dawe, a 36-year-old man who was ultimately sentenced to 46 months in prison after being caught in a police operation targeting online child exploitation.Dawe, a resident of Bedford, believed he was engaging in conversations with two young girls, both claiming to be 12 years old—one named Kirsty and the other called C.
However, these girls were actually decoy officers working undercover to catch individuals attempting to exploit minors online.
Prosecutor Max Hardy outlined to Luton Crown Court that Dawe had actively participated in sexually explicit conversations with the girl identified as Kirsty.
During these exchanges, he sent her explicit images of himself and asked her to perform sexual acts, clearly indicating his intent to engage in illegal activity involving a minor.
Kirsty had informed him that she was 12 years old and from Wales, to which Dawe responded with a comment, “So you like older men,” suggesting a predatory mindset.
Further investigation revealed that when Dawe was arrested in March of the previous year, authorities seized his mobile phone.
Examination of his device uncovered that he had also been communicating explicitly with the other decoy, known as C, who also claimed to be 12 years old.
This evidence confirmed his involvement in attempting to initiate sexual contact with minors.
Dawe, who resides on Garfield Street in Bedford, appeared before the court to face sentencing after pleading guilty to two charges of causing or attempting to cause the sexual exploitation of a child.
His defense, led by Nasreen Tincey, presented a letter from Dawe’s wife, describing the offenses as “completely out of character.” The letter explained that Dawe was separated from his wife at the time, had recently started a new job, and was experiencing feelings of isolation.
However, Judge Steven Evans was unequivocal in his assessment of Dawe’s actions.
He stated, “Your ultimate purpose was to gain some sort of sexual satisfaction from contact with 12-year-old girls.” The judge emphasized the seriousness of the offenses and the need for strict measures to protect the public.
As part of his sentence, Dawe is required to adhere to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the next ten years.
Additionally, he will be registered as a sex offender indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to prevent further offenses.
