BEDFORD MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING WOMAN AS SHE SLEPT
Che Phillip, aged 44 and formerly residing in Bedford, assaulted a woman following a social gathering.
When she regained consciousness and realized the assault, she pushed him away, summoned a taxi to return home, and contacted the authorities.
Phillip, now living on Brunswick Place in Hove, was convicted of sexual assault and was sentenced on Thursday, December 18, to five and a half years in prison.
The judge emphasized that forensic evidence in the case was highly compelling and that Phillip had chosen a particularly vulnerable victim, showing no remorse for his actions.
Detective Constable Amy Dewar of Bedfordshire Police stated, “This was a disturbing and predatory act that breached the victim’s trust and safety, causing significant psychological damage including flashbacks.
“We applaud her bravery in coming forward and reporting this crime.
Sexual assault is never acceptable, and our efforts to pursue justice for victims continue strongly.
“Reporting a crime can be done at any time, and doing so helps law enforcement hold perpetrators accountable.”
