2005: JAILED AFTER SEX WITH TEENAGER
A mechanic appeared at Worcester Crown Court accused of arranging a hotel stay with the intention of engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl, the court was told.Richard Warman, 23, of Talbot Road in Bromsgrove, confessed to two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse.
During proceedings, it was disclosed that Warman took contraceptive pills belonging to his girlfriend and coerced the teenager into taking one.
The encounter happened at the Comfort Inn in Birmingham amid a clandestine relationship that lasted ten months.
Warman began cheating on his girlfriend in September 2003 by asking the girl if she wanted to have sex once.
Their first sexual encounter occurred in a private house while Warman’s girlfriend was out playing bingo.
The girl later confided in a social worker about the incident a month afterward.
Warman, who has two children with his partner, initially claimed he would never be involved with someone so young but was subsequently arrested.
He asserted he was attending a stag party on the night of the hotel meeting, yet police handwriting analysis verified his signature on the booking form.
Judge Richard Rundell sentenced Warman to 18 months in prison, describing him as “a danger to young girls” and noting that he exploited her for sexual pleasure.
The court emphasized the deliberate planning evident in the hotel booking and the fact that most sexual encounters involved unprotected sex, labeling such conduct as “highly irresponsible.” Defense attorney Tariq Shakoor pointed out that Warman showed affection towards the girl and that his guilty plea prevented her from having to testify.
The defendant has a history of depression, suicidal thoughts, and self-harm behaviors.
