WORCESTER TRANSGENDER WOMAN ZOE LYNES/CHRISTOPHER WORTON BREACHES SEXUAL HARM ORDER IN WORCESTER

In January 2019, a serious incident involving a transgender woman from Worcester, known by the names Zoe Lynes and Christopher Worton, came to light when she was found to have violated a court-imposed sexual harm prevention order.

The case highlights the ongoing challenges faced by individuals with a criminal past, especially those who have served time for serious offenses such as sexual assault.

According to court records, Lynes, who resides on Barbourne Road in Worcester, had previously been convicted of a grave sexual offense.

In 2014, she was sentenced to a youth detention centre after pleading guilty to five counts of rape against a girl aged between 13 and 15.

Her criminal history is well-documented, and her name was also publicly associated with her former identity, Christopher Worton.

The breach occurred when Lynes visited a residence in Worcester while a child was present in the home.

This visit was in direct violation of the sexual harm prevention order that had been issued against her, a court hearing was told.

The incident took place on December 10, 2017, and was brought to the court’s attention during the proceedings.

During the hearing, Christopher Aggrey, representing Lynes, explained that her visit was motivated by a desire to check on a long-standing friend she had known since 2012.

Aggrey stated, “She decided to go to see her friend who she’s known since 2012.

She went there on a snowy day to see if he needed any basic essentials from the shop.” He further elaborated that Lynes had a close bond with this individual, who had been supportive through difficult times, including a car crash they experienced together some years prior.

Aggrey emphasized that Lynes had no intention of entering the property and that this was her first breach of the sexual harm prevention order.

He also highlighted that Lynes had been experiencing social isolation, which was compounded by her gender transition, possibly influencing her decision to visit her friend.

The court was informed that her motives were benign and that her actions did not involve any malicious intent.

Prosecutor Nicola Ritchie provided additional details, noting that when Lynes arrived at her friend's house, her presence was questioned by her friend.

The court heard that at the time, the friend, his son, and his sister were all present in the home.

Lynes and her friend exchanged a brief conversation outside the property before she left.

Despite her departure, Lynes waved at two children inside the house, which raised concerns given her previous conviction and the restrictions placed upon her.

It was also revealed that Lynes had legally changed her name in 2017, a detail that underscored her efforts to establish a new identity following her criminal conviction.

In sentencing, Worcester Magistrates Court ordered Lynes to pay a fine of £93, along with a £30 victim surcharge and £135 in court costs.

The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which breaches of such orders are treated, especially when they involve individuals with a history of sexual offenses.

The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing monitoring and legal restrictions placed on offenders to protect the community, particularly vulnerable minors in Worcester.
