WILLIAM SUNG AND SHOCKING SEX OFFENSES IN LIVERPOOL
A man named William Sung, who is a convicted sex offender, has been sentenced to prison after committing disturbing acts in Liverpool.The incident involved Sung performing a sexual act on himself outside a block of student flats in the city, specifically in the Gildart Street area.
On two separate occasions, Sung was observed engaging in this inappropriate behavior while standing at the window of a local takeaway.
The first incident occurred in August, when Sung, then 45 years old and residing on Nelson Street in the Baltic Triangle district, was seen pulling down his trousers on the street corner despite being registered as a sex offender.
Later the same day, he was spotted again at the same location, performing the same act.
Following these events, Sung appeared before Liverpool Magistrates' Court after admitting to two counts of exposure.
During the hearing on September 25, prosecutor Mark Teare described how Sung was found engaging in the sexual act in the same street "for a period of time," indicating a prolonged and deliberate act.
Sung’s criminal history includes previous convictions for harassment and exposure.
Notably, in 2013, he received a nine-month prison sentence after sexually assaulting a woman by touching her.
These prior convictions underscore a pattern of concerning behavior.
Defending Sung, lawyer David Achilles explained that his client had admitted to the offenses and suffers from learning difficulties.
Achilles also highlighted Sung’s social isolation, noting that he has no family in the United Kingdom, which may contribute to his circumstances.
The defense requested that any sentence be suspended, citing the guidance in the report and Sung’s personal difficulties.
However, the magistrates, after careful consideration and discussion, determined that the case was sufficiently serious to warrant immediate custody.
Chair Magistrate Glenys McGill stated that the court had thoroughly reviewed the facts and the arguments presented.
She emphasized that the incident was aggravated by its duration, Sung’s intoxication at the time, and the fact that he was subject to a notification requirement on the Sex Offenders Register.
As a result, Sung was sentenced to four months in prison.
Additionally, he is required to sign the Sex Offenders Register for the next seven years and ordered to pay £100 in compensation to his victim.
This case highlights the ongoing concerns surrounding individuals on the sex offenders list and the importance of strict legal measures to protect the community.
