WILLIAM SUMMERSON AND SHOCKING SEX OFFENCES IN DORSET

A convicted sex offender from Dorset has been handed a substantial prison sentence after orchestrating a series of manipulative schemes involving vulnerable women online.

William Neil Summerson, a former archaeologist residing on West Moors Road in Ferndown, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for his calculated and predatory behavior.

Summerson exploited the anonymity and reach of social media platforms along with popular dating apps such as Tinder and Plenty of Fish to identify and target five women.

Over a span from August 14, 2015, to Christmas Day, 2016, he systematically built trust with these women, only to betray that trust with threatening ultimatums.

His tactics included convincing victims to send explicit images of themselves, often topless or completely nude.

In some particularly disturbing incidents, Summerson manipulated two women into performing sexual acts on themselves during live Skype sessions.

These acts were not only coerced but were part of his wider pattern of deceitful conduct aimed at sexual gratification.

The court proceedings revealed that Summerson had a criminal history of similar offenses.

Notably, just three years prior, he had posed as a top model agent online to deceive victims, indicating a clear pattern of manipulative behavior tailored towards exploiting women.

One of his victims, whom he enticed to send private photographs on Christmas Day, experienced severe distress after realizing she had been deceived.

Her emotional turmoil reached the point where she contemplated taking her own life due to the betrayal.

Throughout the course of his manipulations, Summerson adopted multiple false identities in his online pursuits.

He posed as a woman’s modeling scout, a prospective American businessman, and other persona types to lure women into believing he was a genuine admirer or professional contact.

After gaining their confidence, Summerson would threaten to distribute the intimate images he had obtained, specifically warning that he would upload the photos to a website and send them directly to the victims’ family, friends, and colleagues.

These threats served as leverage to extort further compliance.

Among his demands, Summerson insisted that victims participate in private Skype calls where he would pressure them into engaging in sexual activities and record themselves.

He also demanded that one woman secretly record herself in a sexual act with a stranger, to which she refused.

Despite her refusal and the refusal of other victims to comply, Summerson continued his threats.

The police investigation was initiated after one victim reported the abuse.

Authorities traced Summerson’s IP address, interrogated him, and seized his computer equipment.

Further inquiries revealed that additional women across the UK had been targeted, leading to his arrest.

At Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday, October 19, Summerson, aged 31, appeared to face multiple charges.

It was established that he was already registered as a sex offender at the time of these offenses.

Summerson admitted to causing women to strip, take explicit photographs, and perform sexual acts on themselves through his coercive tactics.

Judge Peter Crabtree described Summerson’s crimes as meticulously planned acts of deception.

He underscored that Summerson’s actions were driven by a compulsive desire for sexual gratification.

The judge also expressed concern about the high likelihood of reoffending, given his criminal history and the extent of his manipulative behavior.
