May 2006 RAPIST JAILED FOR ATTACKS ON YOUNG GIRLS A SEX beast who preyed on three under-age girls while on a treatment programme for a previous attack has been jailed indefinitely. William Seymour, 44, raped an 11-year-old, had sex with a 15-year-old and indecently assaulted a 12-year-old. Newcastle Crown Court heard he started attacking the youngsters while part-way through a sex offender treatment programme imposed as part of a probation order in 1999 for indecently assaulting another young girl. Prosecutor Robert Adams told the court: “It would be fair to say it clearly failed in its’ aims.” Seymour raped the youngest girl after forcing her against railings inHebburn in 2001. Mr Adams said: “Afterwards, she felt dirty, ashamed and was shaking with fear.” But after saying he loved her and would kill himself unless she loved him back, Seymour continued having sex with the girl until she told her parents last December. He was also having sex and abusing another under-age youngster, after using his love of caravans and camping to lure girls into situations where he could abuse them. Seymour, of Monkton Hall, Jarrow, pleaded guilty to nine charges, including rape, sexual activity with a child, sexual assault on a child and indecent assault. Tony Hawks, defending, said: “He is plainly a man with a significant, long-standing deviant interest in girls. “It would be absurd to suggest otherwise, and he is thoroughly ashamed of himself. “He wants assistance. He wants this problem addressed. He wants to try and sort it out.” Parole Judge David Wood said Seymour, who is considered to pose a high risk of re-offending, must spend at least four years behind bars before he can apply for parole. But he warned: “That does not mean you will be automatically released – that will be for the parole board to determine. “If you are released, you will be on licence for life.” Judge Wood banned Seymour from ever working with children and ordered him to register as a sex offender for life.
