William Hunt

Blurton Sexual Abuser

September 2011 Rapist claimed victim had lied PERVERT William Hunt has been jailed for 10 years after he raped a teenage girl on two occasions. The 52-year-old got on top of his victim and raped her twice, Stafford Crown Court heard yesterday. Hunt had previously pleaded guilty to two charges of raping a girl aged under 14. Prosecutor Stuart Clarkson said Hunt was too heavy for the girl to push off. After committing the rapes, Hunt threatened his victim not to report him to the police. The court heard the victim has been left depressed by her ordeals and has attempted to take her own life. Hunt, of Wimborne Avenue, Blurton, made full denials when interviewed by police but later pleaded guilty to two charges of rape. Catherine O’Reilly, mitigating, said Hunt has no previous convictions for sexual offences. She said he has had problems with alcohol and cannabis use in the past but accepted there was no justification or excuse for his behaviour. “He does feel remorse,” added Miss O’Reilly. Jailing Hunt, Judge Robin Onions said: “When first interviewed by the police, not only did you deny responsibility but you asserted she had lied. “You raped her on these two occasions. “It is aggravated by the sex being unprotected. “You say you do not remember this. I reject that. “You know very well what you did. ” You remember exactly what you did. “People such as you will face very long sentences.” Hunt will be on the sex offenders’ register for life. Judge Onions also barred him from working with children for life and made him the subject of a sexual offences prevention order for life, which prevents him having any unsupervised contact with any child under 16. “The best thing you can do is to face up to what you are and what you have done and get on and do the programmes (in prison),” added the judge.
