WILLIAM HOWELL SENT TO PRISON FOR SEXUAL COMMUNICATIONS WITH TEENAGE GIRL IN NOTTINGHAM
A man from Nottingham has been sentenced to prison after engaging in a series of inappropriate and explicit text exchanges with a vulnerable teenage girl.William Howell, aged 46 and residing on Northall Avenue in Bulwell, became the subject of police investigation following a report made by the girl’s mother.
The report raised concerns about the nature of the messages being exchanged, prompting authorities to launch a forensic examination of Howell’s mobile phone.
During this investigation, authorities uncovered multiple explicit messages that Howell had sent over an extended period.
It was established that Howell was fully aware of the girl’s true age at the time of these communications, which began when she was only 13 years old.
Despite knowing her age, Howell continued to engage in these inappropriate exchanges, a fact that significantly contributed to the severity of his conviction.
William Howell later pleaded guilty to charges of engaging in sexual communications with a minor, acknowledging the gravity of his actions.
His court appearance took place at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, August 30.
The judge sentenced Howell to 11 months in prison, reflecting the seriousness of his misconduct.
In addition to his custodial sentence, Howell was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order.
This legal restriction is designed to prevent him from having any further access to children or engaging in online activities that could put minors at risk once he is released from prison.
The order aims to protect potential victims and prevent any recurrence of similar behavior.
Detective Constable Joanne Thompson of Nottinghamshire Police expressed her views on the case, stating, “Howell was well-aware this girl was nowhere close to the age of consent when he exchanged these messages.
His actions were totally indefensible and have understandably had a significant impact on this girl and her family.
I am pleased he has now been jailed and hope this sentence serves as a reminder to others about the potential consequences of this kind of behaviour.”
