William Doheny, aged 20, was convicted of sexually abusing a primary school-aged girl when he himself was under 16 years old.
The Swansea Crown Court heard that Doheny engaged in inappropriate activities with his young victim, including playing games that turned sexual, such as wrestling, touching her breasts, and telling her she needed to learn "how to make out." He also forced her to perform oral sex on him on multiple occasions.
The victim impact statement revealed the lasting psychological harm caused by his actions, with the victim saying: "What has happened to me has had a lasting effect.
Although this happened years ago I am massively struggling now to come to terms with what happened." She explained that she felt vulnerable and terrified to cooperate with police and face a trial, even contemplating ending her life last year.
Doheny pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual activity with a child.
He was sentenced to a two-year community order, which requires completing a 20-day rehabilitation program and 250 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, he was subjected to a restraining order forbidding him from contacting his victim for five years.
