June 2015 East Belfast man jailed for ‘catalogue of sex abuse’ A man has been jailed after subjecting a girl to a catalogue of sexual abuse stretching back more than 30 years William Cuthbert, 57-year-old, of Mersey Street, Belfast faced eight charges of indecent assault on a female and a further count of gross indecency with a child. He pleaded guilty to all of the offences. The offences were committed in Belfast between 1981 and 1985. The judge sentenced Cuthbert to four year imprisonment and was given one year of probation. He was told that he must register as a sex offender and was disqualified from working with children
