WILLIAM BAIN PREDATOR FROM CRIEFF SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF BOYS AT GLENALMOND COLLEGE

William Bain, a man with a disturbing history of predatory behavior, has been handed a prison sentence of six and a half years after being found guilty of sexually abusing five young boys during his career. Bain, aged 62, was a former teacher whose misconduct spanned several years, beginning in 1989 and continuing until 1995. His victims were students at a private school, and among them was a boy who initially sought his help after experiencing bullying, only to become one of his victims.

Despite his criminal activities, Bain managed to secure a senior position at Glenalmond College, a prestigious institution, which allowed him access to more students. His crimes remained hidden for many years until 2015, when a victim recognized him while he was still teaching at the school. This recognition prompted an investigation that eventually uncovered Bain’s long history of abuse.

The High Court in Glasgow heard detailed accounts of Bain’s misconduct, revealing that he had committed repeated acts of abuse both within classrooms and in private flats. The victims ranged in age, with some as young as 11 years old. The court was told that Bain’s offending was persistent and calculated, with no signs of remorse or regret for his actions.
