WESLEY HEDGE JAILED IN SHEFFIELD FOR HISTORIC SEXUAL ASSAULTS
Wesley Hedge, a 71-year-old former Salvation Army cadet leader, has been sentenced to five years in prison after admitting to six counts of indecent assault against a girl he met in the 1970s.
Sheffield Crown Court was told that Hedge groomed the victim during their interactions, which involved inappropriate touching and other sex acts.
The victim's impact statement, read during the sentencing, revealed that she was unaware she was being groomed at the time and believed she was in love with Hedge.
Prosecutor Ian Goldsack explained that Hedge had invited the underage girl to his home while his wife was absent and had also asked her to place his hand on his lap during a coach trip.
The court heard details of Hedge’s misconduct, including touching the girl's breasts and getting her to touch his genitals.
Hedge, of Dunkeld Road in Sheffield, was convicted of these historical crimes and received the five-year prison sentence for his actions.
