NOTTINGHAMMAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ABUSE AND THREATS
A 'controlling and abusive bully' who beat, strangled and threatened to kill his ex-partner has been sentenced to jail.Nottinghamshire Police reported that Wesley Cain, 33, from Nottingham, launched a series of violent assaults during a 'six-month campaign of abuse and intimidation'.
Cain physically assaulted his victim on multiple occasions, including punching her in the head and strangling her until she lost consciousness on 25 May 2022.
During the incident, Cain was in a car with the victim when he grabbed her in a headlock, further escalating his violence.
In addition to physical attacks, Cain sent threatening messages to the woman, including death threats.
He was convicted and sentenced to four years in prison at Lincoln Crown Court on 17 May.
Furthermore, Cain reacted violently while in custody, damaging a glass window at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre after reacting to police seizing his Kindle, which he used to make further threats towards his victim.
He pleaded guilty to multiple charges including assault causing actual bodily harm, assault by strangulation, making threats to kill, and criminal damage.
Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson described Cain's actions as 'an appalling and prolonged display of violence and intimidation from a controlling and abusive bully.' The police also imposed a restraining order banning Cain from contacting his victim for ten years.
The victim was commended for her bravery throughout this ordeal, and the sentence aims to provide her with some sense of justice and safety.
