WAYNE TRAILL SENTENCED IN NORTHFLEET FOR DEPRAVED CHILD SEX OFFENSES

A man convicted of multiple counts of heinous and disturbing child abuse has been sentenced to prison. Wayne Traill, residing on Stonebridge Road in Northfleet, was found guilty of 21 separate charges after his prolonged abuse of several young victims spanning over ten years.

Traill’s criminal behavior began in the 1990s when he targeted one of his victims, and he continued his predatory actions by exploiting two more children later on. During investigations, victims were warned that if they reported his crimes, they would not be believed.

The police became aware of the abuse in March 2022, leading to Traill’s arrest. He initially refused to cooperate during police interviews and denied any wrongdoing when questioned in court. However, he later pleaded guilty shortly before the trial at Woolwich Crown Court, admitting to charges including rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, and gross indecency.

On December 19, Traill was sentenced to 21 years in prison. The judge described him as “a dangerous sexual offender” who “groomed and abused” his victims. Following his release, Traill will face an extended licence period of eight years and will remain on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.

Detetive Constable Daniel Grant, leading the investigation, commented: “Traill repeatedly subjected his victims to depraved and sickening abuse, causing incalculable damage to their young lives. He is a predatory child sex offender who used fear and intimidation to obtain sexual gratification, and his deplorable actions will sadly have a lasting and profound impact on those he targeted. The fact justice has finally been served is largely down to the incredible courage and bravery of his victims, and I am grateful Traill is at least now behind bars where he can cause no further harm to other young children.”
