WAYNE BAKER BUSTED IN BURSTLEM: SHOCKING SEX OFFENSE LEADS TO OVER FOUR YEARS BEHIND BARS
In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the community of Burslem, Wayne Baker, aged 43, has been sentenced to a prison term of four years and two months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court following a series of serious criminal violations involving a minor. The court was informed that Baker committed a highly inappropriate act in front of a young child, performing a sex act on himself in a manner that was both deliberate and for his own sexual gratification. This act was witnessed by the child, who subsequently underwent a precautionary HIV test as a precautionary measure. Fortunately, the test results came back negative, alleviating fears of potential transmission of the virus.
Baker’s criminal history is extensive, particularly concerning his previous convictions related to the creation and distribution of indecent images of children. His past includes a sentence handed down in February 2016, where he received an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, reflecting prior concerns about his behavior towards minors.
During the court proceedings, prosecutor Adam Western highlighted Baker’s blatant disregard for court orders, emphasizing that his latest actions demonstrated a clear pattern of non-compliance and a lack of remorse. Baker had also falsely claimed to a woman that he had been tested for HIV and was negative, which was used as part of the evidence against him.
In addition to the primary charge of engaging in sexual activity in front of a child, Baker was found guilty of breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), failing to adhere to the notification requirements of the sex offenders’ register, and breaching the conditions of his suspended sentence. These breaches underscored his ongoing failure to comply with legal restrictions designed to protect the public, especially vulnerable minors.
Recorder Baz Bhatia addressed Baker directly, stating, “The court orders were made not for your convenience but for the protection of children from you. These breaches reflect a blatant disregard for court orders. You have a history of non-compliance with court orders.” The judge’s comments underscored the seriousness of Baker’s violations and the need for a substantial custodial sentence to prevent further harm.
Authorities and community members alike are now calling for increased vigilance and protective measures to prevent individuals like Baker from reoffending, especially given his history and the severity of his latest misconduct in Burslem.
