WATSON MURDOCH OF SURBITON JAILED FOR TEENAGE SEXUAL ABUSE
In July 2014, Watson Murdoch, a resident of Surbiton, was sentenced to prison after being convicted of historic sexual offences against a young boy.Murdoch, then a teenager himself, committed abuse over a period of six years spanning from the mid-1990s to 2001, with some incidents occurring in Oxshott and Tolworth.
The victim confided in his girlfriend about the abuse a decade later.
Following a nearly two-week trial in May, a jury found Murdoch, of Ewell Road, guilty of two counts of indecent assault on a male under 16 and one count of rape of a male under 16.
He was acquitted of one other count of indecent assault and indecency with a child.
On Friday, July 11, Kingston Crown Court sentenced Murdoch to six years in prison.
Prosecutor Serena Gates stated during the trial that Murdoch, now in his early 30s, was a teenage at the time the offences occurred. She described the abuse starting with kissing and groping, making the victim feel “uncomfortable” and “wrong.”
Miss Gates also recounted the victim’s account of a rape at age 11, describing it as “hurting like hell.”
