WASIM MAJID'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN WOLVERTON: EX-TEACHER AND SEX OFFENDER'S DARK PAST REVEALED

In October 2016, a disturbing case emerged involving Wasim Majid, a man with a deeply troubling history of sexual offenses, who was found to be actively involved in the cricket community in Wolverton. Despite his criminal record and being branded a 'significant risk' by a judge, Majid has taken on a role as a volunteer within a prestigious children’s cricket organization, raising serious concerns among parents and officials alike.

Majid, who has changed his surname from Majid to Aslam, is currently the fixtures secretary for the London Schools Cricket Association. This organization has a storied history, with legendary figures such as ex-England captains Graham Gooch and Mike Gatting having played there. However, the involvement of Aslam in such a reputable institution has come under scrutiny following revelations of his past convictions.

He is registered on the Sex Offenders’ Register and was subjected to an indefinite ban from working with children after serving a four-year prison sentence in 2004. His conviction stemmed from two counts of indecency and three counts of indecent assault involving minors. The sentencing took place at Northampton Crown Court, where Judge Charles Wide QC described Aslam’s actions as part of a 'carefully calculated and planned campaign' to abuse two vulnerable 15-year-old boys. The judge emphasized the manipulative and devious nature of Aslam’s conduct, which included grooming the victims and creating opportunities for abuse.

One of the victims received up to 1,300 calls and numerous explicit text messages, including 93 messages sent on Valentine’s Day, illustrating the extent of Aslam’s predatory behavior. The court heard that Aslam targeted these boys for his own sexual gratification, exploiting their vulnerabilities and trust.

In January 2004, Aslam, then known as Wasim Majid, was convicted of similar offenses involving two schoolboys. The case revealed that he had groomed the boys by sending up to 1,500 lewd messages and indecently assaulted them. The first incident involved assaulting a boy in his bedroom while the boy’s parents were out, and the second occurred when the second boy helped Aslam move into a new house. The jury was shown mobile phone records indicating the teacher’s extensive communication, including 93 texts on Valentine’s Day alone.

During the trial, Aslam claimed that his messages were purely friendly and related to pastoral care, citing his role as a teacher. However, the evidence painted a different picture, with the court concluding that his actions were part of a calculated grooming process. The victims, both vulnerable due to their recent arrival at school and struggles with their sexuality, had confided in no one about the abuse until they reported it to school authorities and police in December of the previous year.

Aslam’s sentencing included a four-year prison term for each of the indecent assault charges, with the sentences to run concurrently. The judge also extended his license for three additional years, underscoring the serious risk he poses. The court’s decision was reinforced by the fact that Aslam’s behavior was characterized by deliberate grooming and manipulation, exploiting his position of authority over the boys.

Members of the London Schools Cricket Association, including six boys who had played cricket with Aslam, attended the hearing. His family, including his mother and two brothers, were also present. Despite his criminal past, Aslam continues to be involved in cricket activities, which has sparked outrage among parents and community members.

Defense counsel Stephen Williamson QC attempted to mitigate the severity of the sentences, describing Aslam as an ambitious and successful teacher who had made a grave mistake. He emphasized that Aslam’s supporters included family, former students, and colleagues, and that his actions had resulted in the loss of his career and reputation. The defense also argued that the assaults were isolated incidents, with minimal intimidation involved, and that Aslam had halted the second assault when the second boy refused his advances.

Nevertheless, the court’s verdict highlighted the danger posed by Aslam, with Judge Wide stating that the nature of his grooming and manipulation demonstrated a significant risk to children. Aslam’s continued involvement in cricket, despite his criminal record, remains a matter of concern for authorities and the community in Wolverton and beyond.
