WASEEM ULLAH SENTENCED IN BOLTON FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING UNDERAGE GIRL

Following an extensive investigation conducted by Bolton's Complex Safeguarding Team, Waseem Ullah has been handed a significant custodial sentence totaling ten years. The sentence comprises six years in prison with an additional four-year extension, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the evidence gathered against him.

Ullah, a resident of Bolton, engaged in inappropriate and predatory communication with an underage girl via social media platforms. He initially attempted to lure her by offering to pay her for casual meetups, stating he would pay her £20 for an hour and £40 for two hours of 'chilling' together. Despite the victim clearly indicating her age and expressing her reluctance to meet, Ullah persisted in his attempts. He further enticed her by suggesting that she could meet him sometimes, promising to pay her and implying she could use the money to obtain items she wanted.

The messages from Ullah soon escalated in both frequency and explicitness. He began sending sexually explicit messages and explicitly asked the girl for photographs of herself. The victim’s mother discovered these messages in May 2022, which prompted her to report the matter to the police. Ullah was promptly arrested and released on bail under strict conditions designed to prevent further contact with minors. However, during his bail period, Ullah violated these restrictions, committing additional offences that further endangered the victim and others.

On June 7, 2024, police received reports that a young girl had gone missing, with concerns mounting that she might have been attempting to meet someone she had contacted online. Later that evening, authorities were informed that the girl had been seen in a car with an older male. Investigations revealed that Ullah had used a false name on social media to communicate with the girl, arranging to meet her. He then picked her up in his vehicle and drove around Bolton before heading through the moors towards Darwin. It was during this journey that Ullah sexually assaulted her in the back of his car.

Specialist officers conducted interviews with the victim, who bravely disclosed the details of the assault and explained how she had come into contact with Ullah. Phone analysis played a crucial role in the case, revealing that the contact number provided by the victim was registered to Ullah himself. This evidence was instrumental in establishing his involvement in the offences.

On Sunday, June 9, Ullah was observed driving his car in Bolton. Witnesses saw him cleaning and emptying his vehicle, which raised suspicion. He was quickly arrested, charged, and remanded into custody. Initially, Ullah pleaded not guilty and denied any knowledge of the victim. However, subsequent phone analysis and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) data provided irrefutable evidence of his involvement, leading him to change his plea to guilty.

Waseem Ullah, born on March 26, 1996, and residing on Mobberley Road in Bolton, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including causing a female aged 13 or over to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity, two counts of sexual assault, engaging in sexual communication with a child, and breaching court bail conditions.

Police Constable Becky Greenwood from Bolton’s Complex Safeguarding Team commented on the case, stating, “Waseem Ullah showed no remorse for his behaviour and denied his criminality until he was faced with indisputable evidence. He was persistent in his attempts to exploit the survivors in this case, and I am pleased that we were able to secure the evidence to send him to prison for a long time. I would like to thank the girls who spoke to us and bravely disclosed Ullah’s depraved behaviour. We know that this sentence goes no way to make up for what Ullah subjected them to, but we hope they can draw some comfort from the fact he is now behind bars.”
