READING SEX OFFENDER VLAZIMR RYBAK SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In a significant case stemming from the town of Reading, Thames Valley Police have successfully brought a man to justice for a series of heinous sexual offences committed against a young child. The individual, identified as Vlazimr Rybak, aged 63 and residing on Oxford Road in Reading, was found guilty of multiple counts related to child sexual abuse after a rigorous four-day trial at Reading Crown Court.
During the proceedings, the jury unanimously convicted Rybak on two counts of sexual assault by touch involving a child, as well as one count each of sexual assault by penetration and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
The offences took place over a period of approximately ten years, during which the victim, whose age at the time was very young, was subjected to repeated acts of sexual abuse by Rybak.
The gravity of these crimes underscores the betrayal of trust and the profound impact on the victim’s life.
The allegations came to light in November 2020 when the offences were reported to Thames Valley Police.
Following a thorough investigation, Rybak was arrested on May 29, 2021.
The legal process culminated in his being formally charged with the offences on July 28, 2022.
The case was then brought before the court, where the evidence presented led to his conviction.
On March 18, 2023, Rybak returned to Reading Crown Court for sentencing.
The judge sentenced him to a substantial term of 16 years in prison, with an additional year on licence, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes.
The sentence aims to serve as a deterrent and to provide some measure of justice for the victim and their family.
Detective Constable Sophie Measham, a member of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit, expressed her satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “I am pleased that Rybak was convicted by a unanimous jury of these offences.
The victim in this case was a very young child, and Rybak betrayed the trust placed in him to commit these horrendous crimes.
Today’s sentencing reflects the gravity of his actions, and I hope it offers some closure for the victim.” She also commended the bravery of the young victim for coming forward and trusting the police and justice system to hold Rybak accountable.
The detective further extended her gratitude to the Crown Prosecution Service for their collaboration in securing the conviction, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in tackling such serious offences.
