On 30 January, Reading Crown Court convicted Michel Yanni, aged 47 from Reading, and sentenced him to a prison term of three years and two months.
He pleaded guilty on 24 November last year, on the day his trial was due to commence, to charges of controlling and coercive behaviour alongside intentional strangulation.
Yanni's former partner, a woman in her forties, was subjected to sustained violence and manipulative control by him for more than two years.
In a brutal incident in August 2023 at their shared Reading residence, Yanni punched her in the face, confiscated her phone to hinder police assistance, and strangled her, squeezing her neck to impede her breathing.
As a result, she suffered multiple black eyes, scars, a fractured finger, and extensive bruising.
