VISHAL BAROT FROM ROMFORD SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON SCHOOLGIRL IN CAMBRIDGE
In November 2005, a disturbing incident occurred involving a young schoolgirl on a bus traveling through Cambridge. The perpetrator, Vishal Barot, a 26-year-old man residing in Romford, was found guilty of inappropriate and criminal behavior towards the 13-year-old passenger.According to court reports, Barot sat directly behind the young girl during the bus journey. Without warning, he began to touch and rub her blouse in a manner that was clearly unwanted and invasive. The girl, overwhelmed by shock and fear, moved away from him and froze in place, unable to react or escape from the uncomfortable situation. Despite her distress, Barot continued his inappropriate actions, showing a blatant disregard for her feelings and personal boundaries.
Adding to the distress, Barot passed a note to the girl, which contained a message reading: “For friendship. Call me,” along with his mobile phone number. This act of harassment was part of his attempt to establish contact and possibly manipulate the young girl further.
The girl’s mother, upon discovering the incident, promptly contacted the police. A female officer was assigned to the case and, posing as the girl, made a telephone call to Barot. During the call, Barot denied any wrongdoing, claiming that the incident in question, which took place in October of the previous year, did not happen and pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual activity with a child.
At the time of the trial, Barot was living in Romford, having since married and become a father. Despite his current personal circumstances, the court found sufficient evidence to convict him of the charges. He was sentenced to serve 80 hours of community service and was ordered to pay costs amounting to £348. Additionally, he was required to register as a sex offender, a measure intended to monitor and prevent future offenses.
This case highlights the serious nature of sexual misconduct involving minors and underscores the importance of swift legal action to protect vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior.
