VINCENT TIMMINS FROM ACCRINGTON JAILED IN HALESOWEN FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a case that has shocked the local communities, Vincent Timmins, a man originally from the Accrington area now residing in Halesowen, West Midlands, has been sentenced to a significant prison term for engaging in repeated sexual activities with a teenage girl. The incident, which spanned several months, came to light after suspicions were raised, prompting police intervention and a series of legal actions against him.

Timmins, aged 30 at the time of sentencing, was found to have engaged in sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old girl on multiple occasions. Despite a Child Abduction Notice being served on him by authorities, he blatantly disregarded the legal order and continued his illicit relationship with the minor. This blatant defiance was highlighted during the court proceedings, where it was revealed that he had ignored the notice, which was intended to prevent further contact with the girl.

The court heard that Timmins, who did not have a fixed address but was known to be from the Accrington area, admitted to eight counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of child abduction. His actions led to his being sentenced to five years in prison. Additionally, he was subjected to a series of restrictions designed to prevent future offenses, including an indefinite ban from working with children and a comprehensive sexual offences prevention order valid for ten years.

Under the terms of this order, Timmins is prohibited from having any unsupervised contact or communication with children under the age of 16. He is also barred from allowing any child under 16 into his residence. Notably, these restrictions do not apply to his own children, but they serve as a safeguard against further abuse. Furthermore, a restraining order was issued, explicitly forbidding him from making any form of contact with the girl, whether directly or indirectly.

Timmins has been in custody for approximately 15 months. His detention followed a recall on license from a previous 27-month prison sentence, during which he was incarcerated for importing drugs. The case was brought to light after police spoke with the girl, who initially denied any inappropriate contact. However, she later disclosed that there had been numerous occasions of sexual intercourse, although she could not specify the exact number of incidents. She also revealed that Timmins had threatened her, claiming she would be sent to a youth detention facility and separated from her family if she revealed the truth.

During police questioning, Timmins denied any sexual activity, claiming that the girl had a crush on him and that their interactions were innocent. The court was informed that the girl was in need of counseling, and her academic performance had suffered as a result of the trauma. She experienced nightmares and expressed anxiety about Timmins' potential release from prison.

Representing the prosecution, Martine Snowden emphasized the seriousness of the case, noting that the continued sexual contact despite the Child Abduction Notice was a significant aggravating factor. The court also heard that the girl’s mental health had been adversely affected, and her overall well-being was at risk.

In his defense, lawyer Hilary Manley acknowledged that Timmins accepted responsibility for his actions, though he did not contest the charges.

Judge Jonathan Gibson delivered the sentence, condemning Timmins for his blatant disregard of the legal orders and emphasizing the gravity of his continued offending. The judge stated, “That is a serious aggravating feature of the case,” underscoring the importance of the measures taken to protect vulnerable minors from such predatory behavior.
