In 2014, Victor Verdol was charged with multiple crimes of rape and child cruelty, with the indictment covering 18 separate counts related to five children aged from two to 16 years old at the time of his four-week trial.
The proceedings took place at Woolwich Crown Court on July 3rd and 4th, before His Honour Judge Katz QC.
During the trial, Verdol was convicted of two counts of rape involving two children, and seven counts of child cruelty against four children, including one of his victims from the rape charges.
He was found not guilty of cruelty against the youngest child, while the jury did not reach a verdict on seven other rape charges.
These charges were later retried, along with four additional counts of rape, and Mr Milne has confirmed that Verdol was convicted on every count during the retrials.
