BRISTOL MAN JAILED FOR 17 YEARS FOR PARTNER MURDER
Vaclovas Liubavicius, aged 62, received a life sentence with a minimum term of 17 years after being convicted of murdering his partner, Nijole Sventeckiene, in her Bristol residence.
The fatal incident took place in June, when Liubavicius attacked Nijole with a knife, resulting in her sustaining fatal injuries.
She died two days later in hospital.
The court found him guilty of murder and ruled that, once he completes his sentence, he will be deported back to Lithuania.
The investigation uncovered that Liubavicius struggled with alcohol dependence and relied on Nijole, who was also Lithuanian, for emotional support.
Despite this, he violently assaulted her with a weapon.
Throughout the trial, he displayed no remorse and denied his involvement even when presented with evidence.
Nijole’s family paid their respects, describing her as a caring and diligent individual who took pride in her accomplishments, and they expressed their hope for her peaceful rest.
