NOTTINGHAM RAILWAY STATION VOYEUR CAUGHT SHOPLIFTING AGAIN IN VICTORIA CENTRE
Less than a month after being spared immediate prison for secretly taking photos of women using the toilets at Nottingham railway station, a pervert was caught shoplifting in the city’s Victoria Centre.Nottingham Crown Court heard how Tuderol Ion was handed a conditional discharge when he was sentenced for carrying out the depraved act at the station.
But just 24 days later, security staff at House of Fraser stopped him as he tried to leave their store with a bag full of expensive fragrances.
Earlier that day, he had stolen headphones from Boots, and even the bag he used to carry the stolen items was itself stolen.
Following his arrest and bail for those offences, Ion twice failed to appear for court hearings.
He was sentenced to five months in jail.
Judge Mark Watson commented: “Many people go without things because they can’t afford them.
Do you agree with police using facial recognition software?
Let us know.
That includes people needing money for food to feed their families who don’t turn to crime.
You, on the other hand, thought nothing of going into shops to steal high-priced items for drug money.
You were banned from entering House of Fraser, but you did not heed the ban.
These stores are staffed by hardworking people, and they shouldn’t have to tolerate theft.
This is why shop theft affects ordinary people and must be taken seriously.” Prosecutor Sam Lowne explained that Ion, who has no fixed address, was previously given a 12-month conditional discharge on June 2 last year after pleading guilty to voyeurism at Nottingham Railway Station.
On June 26, he was stopped attempting to leave House of Fraser; he was suspected of theft after being previously banned.
Items including Yves St Laurent fragrances valued at £589 and headphones worth about £150, stolen earlier from Boots, were found in his bag.
Ion admitted to the theft, drug possession (Mamba), breach of bail, and of failing to attend court.
He has previous robbery convictions from his home country and a voyeurism conviction in the UK.
Mitigating solicitor Bianca Brasoveanu said her client has children aged four, six, and seven in Romania, and after losing his job and accommodation, he turned to drugs and theft for money.
