TROY BOWYER AND SAM HUDACEK SHOCK NEWPORT WITH CRUDE DOG INSEMINTATION AND DRUG DEALING

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Newport, two men, Troy Bowyer and Sam Hudacek, found themselves at the center of a criminal investigation involving animal cruelty and drug offenses. The incident came to light after police executed a search warrant related to drug activity, during which they discovered a troubling video on Hudacek's mobile phone.

According to court reports, the footage depicted Bowyer and Hudacek attempting to artificially inseminate a female dog. The video was described as crude and amateurish, with a judge commenting that upon first viewing, he thought it depicted some form of sexual perversion. The scene showed the female bull dog standing on her front legs, with her hind legs being held up, while Bowyer was seen moving his fingers in and out of her. A syringe was also visible in the footage, adding to the disturbing nature of the act.

Hudacek was recorded laughing and encouraging Bowyer during the filming, which was shot by Hudacek himself. The court heard that the footage appeared to be an attempt at artificial insemination, a procedure that would have caused the dog significant discomfort. When questioned about the video, Hudacek refused to comment, offering only a 'no comment' response to all inquiries. Bowyer, on the other hand, acknowledged that he was the person in the footage but denied causing unnecessary suffering to the animal.

Further investigations revealed that Hudacek had been involved in dealing cocaine, which was also documented on his phone. Both men faced charges related to their respective offenses. Hudacek pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, while Bowyer admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

During the court proceedings, defense lawyers provided context for their clients. Hudacek's counsel explained that he had moved to the UK from Slovakia at the age of 12 and initially struggled with English in Newport. His parents later returned to Slovakia, but Hudacek chose to remain in Wales, seeking to support his partner and improve himself. The lawyer emphasized that Hudacek's involvement in the animal cruelty was peripheral and that he was capable of more.

Bowyer's defense highlighted that the dog belonged to Hudacek and that Bowyer had been asked to assist with the artificial insemination. It was also noted that Bowyer had a long-term partner of 18 years, with whom he had two children, and a third child on the way. Despite this, the couple did not cohabitate.

Judge Simon Mills described the incident involving the dog as 'frankly unpleasant.' He stated that upon viewing the footage, he initially thought it depicted some form of sexual perversion. However, he clarified that it was a crude and amateurish attempt at artificial insemination, which would have caused the dog considerable discomfort.

In sentencing, Hudacek received three years in prison, with one month to run concurrently for the animal welfare offense. Bowyer was given a 24-month community order, including a rehabilitation course, and fined £500. Neither man was banned from owning animals in the future.
