TRISTAN WILCOX FROM BANGOR SENTENCED FOR INDECENT IMAGES IN LLANDUDNO

In a case that has drawn significant attention in Bangor and Llandudno, an 18-year-old man named Tristan George Gregory Wilcox was formally sentenced after being found in possession of indecent images on his mobile phones. The incident, which took place over several months, culminated in Wilcox being ordered to register as a sex offender and subjected to various legal restrictions.

Wilcox, who resides at a care address in Bangor, appeared before Llandudno Magistrates Court to face charges related to the creation and distribution of indecent images of minors. The court heard that between December 1 of the previous year and August 4 of this year, Wilcox had made two indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of a girl approximately nine years old in Llandudno. In addition to these, he admitted to producing ten more indecent images of children within the same town during the same period.

The images in question were classified as level one out of five, indicating the least severe category of such material. Prosecutor Diane Williams explained that the investigation was initiated after Wilcox handed a phone to a friend, who then passed it to his partner. Upon viewing the images, she became deeply concerned and took the step of deleting them. Recognizing the seriousness of the matter, she reported the incident to the authorities, leading to Wilcox’s arrest and subsequent court proceedings.

During the hearing, Wilcox’s defense solicitor, Megan Lovelady, acknowledged that three phones belonging to her client contained relevant images. She described Wilcox as a vulnerable and immature young person, emphasizing that he had learned a significant lesson from the experience of being in police custody and appearing in court.

District Judge Andrew Shaw ultimately sentenced Wilcox to a two-year community order with supervision, requiring him to regularly report to authorities. Additionally, Wilcox was mandated to sign the sex offenders’ register and was issued a sex offences prevention order that will remain in effect for five years. This order specifically prohibits him from engaging in paid or voluntary work involving children under the age of 16 without prior approval from a police officer, aiming to prevent any future harm or misconduct.
