TREVOR WEBB AND SHOCKING SEXUAL EXPLOITATION CASE IN NORFOLK AND KING'S LYNN
A man from Norfolk has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in orchestrating the sexual exploitation of a teenage girl.Trevor Webb, aged 38, engaged in online contact with the victim, which eventually led to her being taken to various locations in King's Lynn, including hotels and private addresses, where she was subjected to sexual encounters with multiple men.
According to the court proceedings at Norwich Crown Court, the young girl, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, was also financially compensated for her participation in these acts.
The prosecution, led by Nicola May, highlighted that some of the encounters were particularly disturbing because they exceeded what had been initially agreed upon, raising serious concerns about the severity and nature of the exploitation.
Trevor Webb, who resides on Dobby Drive in King's Lynn, appeared before the court on Tuesday, December 7, to be sentenced following his earlier guilty pleas.
Webb admitted to two counts of arranging to facilitate the sexual exploitation of a minor, with the incidents occurring between February and April of 2018.
Additionally, he acknowledged possessing an indecent image of a child, which was created between January and June of the same year.
The defense counsel, Stephen Spence, asked the court to take Webb's guilty pleas into account when determining the sentence.
He described Webb as someone who is generally regarded as a man of good character, emphasizing that his client had endured a significant delay—approximately three years—in facing justice.
Spence explained that Webb’s case had been delayed due to the complexities involved in the investigation, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need for extensive research.
He further stated that Webb had suffered considerably from the prolonged uncertainty, noting that the ongoing legal process had adversely affected his health and employment status.
Considering these factors, Spence argued that Webb was not a malicious individual but had been caught up in circumstances beyond his control.
Despite these mitigating circumstances, Judge Maureen Bacon imposed a custodial sentence, sentencing Webb to a total of 22 months in prison.
The judge emphasized that Webb's actions exploited a vulnerable and troubled young girl, and that a custodial sentence was necessary to reflect the seriousness of the offense.
In her remarks, Judge Bacon acknowledged Webb’s guilty pleas and the delays in delivering justice, but reaffirmed that his actions warranted a punitive response.
The court also issued a restraining order, prohibiting Webb from making any contact—either directly or indirectly—with the victim until further notice.
Furthermore, Webb has been ordered to sign the sex offenders' register for the next ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and safeguarding measures to prevent further harm.
