TREVOR CATOR AND SHOCKING VOYEURISM INCIDENT IN NORFOLK
A pensioner named Trevor Cator, aged 67, was involved in a disturbing incident at a holiday park in Cromer, Norfolk, where he was caught attempting to spy on two young sisters while they were in the shower. The incident took place at Cromer Caravan Park, a popular holiday destination in Norfolk, and has raised serious concerns about safety and privacy.
According to reports presented at Norwich Magistrates’ Court, Cator was observed by one of the young girls on all fours, trying to peer under the shower cubicles.
The court was told that he was seen by the 11-year-old girl, who noticed his suspicious behavior outside the cubicles.
The girl, along with her nine-year-old sister, had gone into the female toilets at the campsite on August 8 to use the shower facilities.
During this time, one of the girls heard a noise outside and, upon opening the door with a towel wrapped around her, she saw Cator on all fours inside the toilet area.
The young girl immediately alerted her parents, who confronted Cator.
In response, he fled into the male toilets and locked himself inside a cubicle.
The court heard that Cator later explained to police that he had entered the toilets hurriedly because he needed to urinate and did not check whether he was entering the male or female facilities.
Cator, who resides in Barkers Herne, Cromer, pleaded guilty to charges of attempted voyeurism.
The court was informed that he had a prior conviction related to similar behavior; in 2013, he was convicted of spying on two young girls changing in a cubicle at a holiday park in Hemsby.
During the proceedings, Stuart Cowen, the prosecutor, pointed out that if Cator had been using the mirror to read text on his mobile phone, the text would have appeared backwards, implying that the mirror’s purpose was more sinister.
The defense, represented by David Foulkes, argued that there was no evidence to suggest that Cator’s actions went beyond an attempt at voyeurism.
Foulkes emphasized that Cator only saw a girl emerging from a shower cubicle wearing a towel, and there was no evidence of recording or more invasive behavior.
The magistrates, recognizing the seriousness of the offense, decided to postpone sentencing until January 8 at Norwich Crown Court.
They emphasized that the young girls involved should have been in a safe environment and that the offense warranted a punishment greater than what magistrates could impose.
As part of his bail conditions, Cator was ordered to stay away from all UK campsites and public showers, effectively banning him from such locations.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about personal safety and the need for vigilance in communal holiday settings, especially in areas like Norfolk where families frequently vacation.
The case continues to draw attention to the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior in public spaces.
