TONY ISRAEL PRICE CONVICTED IN CARDIFF FOR CRUELTY TO THREE PONIES
Tony Israel Price, born around 1962 and residing at Shirenewton Caravan Site, Wentloog Road, Rumney, Cardiff CF3 2EE, was convicted in 2019 for mistreating three neglected ponies kept in poor conditions.Gypsy traveller Tony Israel Price was found guilty of three offences related to horse cruelty after neglecting advice from the RSPCA regarding their care.
In July 2018, RSPCA inspectors Christine McNeil and Simon Evans visited a field off Redway Road, Bonvilston, where they discovered 13 horses with very limited grazing, including the presence of ragwort, and one mare notably in very poor condition.
Inspector McNeil stated, “During this visit a vet examination was carried out and advice was passed onto the owner as well as a warning notice issued for the poor body condition of the mare.”
A subsequent visit in August, attended by inspector McNeil and chief inspector Elaine Spence, revealed that the mare’s condition had worsened. A vet on site expressed the opinion that she was suffering, and it was noted that the other two mares were not receiving their needs and would likely suffer if their circumstances remained unchanged.
McNeil reported, “Sadly our advice had not been taken on board and we had to take action. Further advice was also issued for the remaining horses at the location.”
The three piebald mares were signed over to a charity and will be available for rehoming.
Regarding sentencing, Price received an 18-month conditional discharge, along with orders to pay £1,000 in costs and a victim surcharge.
This case was reported by Horse & Hound and published by The Cardiffian.
