TONY HUTTON SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCES IN MERSEYSIDE
A man named Tony Hutton has been sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13 and taking indecent photographs of a young victim. The heinous crimes took place in Merseyside, specifically in the town of St Helens, where Hutton resided on Liverpool Street.
This case is part of a broader, disturbing series of criminal activities involving multiple offenders targeting vulnerable children within the region.
The investigation unfolded after a joint effort by Merseyside Police and St Helens Social Care, highlighting the seriousness with which authorities approach such matters.
The ordeal came to light after a court case held in June 2021, during which police uncovered a troubling digital trail related to a convicted paedophile named Vicki Bevan.
Evidence from her phone revealed indecent images and videos of children, which had been sent via a mobile number linked to Bevan.
Further examination uncovered messages and images suggesting that Bevan was involved in the sexual abuse of children along with two accomplices.
As part of the extensive investigation, authorities conducted a search of Bevan’s residence.
This search yielded numerous electronic devices, including laptops and mobile phones, all containing multiple indecent images of children.
These illicit materials were shared among Bevan and two men—Tony Hutton and Paul Rafferty—who were also implicated in this serious case.
Vicki Bevan was arrested on Monday, October 25th, 2021, and the following day was formally charged with 11 offences.
As the investigation progressed, additional charges were brought against her, eventually totaling 34 counts of child sexual abuse and related offences.
In January 2022, Bevan pleaded guilty to all charges at Liverpool Crown Court.
The court subsequently sentenced her to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 10 years, for her various crimes including rape, multiple counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, sexual assault of a child under 13, incitement to engage in sexual activity, and making, distributing, and possessing indecent images of children, as well as possessing extreme pornography.
Paul Rafferty, aged 62 and residing on Fry Street in St Helens, was also held accountable.
He received a 10-year prison sentence, along with an extended four-year license period, for his involvement in crimes including the rape and sexual assault of a child under 13, as well as the creation of indecent images.
The evidence presented at trial painted a grim picture of his direct participation in these horrific offences.
Tony Hutton, who is 42 years old and lives on Liverpool Street in St Helens, was sentenced to four years behind bars.
His convictions involved the sexual assault of a child under 13 and the taking of indecent photographs.
The sentences reflect the gravity of their actions and the impact on the victims.
Detective Chief Inspector Allison Woods issued a statement condemning the crimes, describing them as “extremely disturbing” and emphasizing the lasting psychological and physical harm inflicted on the victims.
