Celal Arslan Rapist in Merseyside

A man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison with an additional five years on extended licence after being convicted of 18 sexual offences committed against four teenage girls in south Liverpool.

Celal Arslan, aged 52 and residing on Ditton Drive in Halewood, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, 20 March.

Following a trial, he was found guilty of the crimes and received his sentence.

His convictions include 15 counts of sexual assault, two counts of attempted rape, and one count of rape.

Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

The case was the result of an investigation into serious sexual allegations at an address in south Liverpool involving four teenage girls.

Detective Constable Nikki Brown, leading the investigation, commented: “Arslan is a sexual predator who will now spend a significant period behind bars for his heinous acts.” She praised the victims, noting their strength in reporting the crimes and going through a trial despite the trauma.

She also expressed relief that the evidence presented was sufficient to secure a conviction, despite Arslan’s denials.

DC Brown added that she hopes the sentencing offers some reassurance to the girls and their families.

She reaffirmed Merseyside Police’s commitment to safeguarding children and young people from sexual abuse and urged anyone with information or who has been victimized to come forward.

Officers are trained to handle such reports with sensitivity and compassion, she assured.
